 Roswell Rudd

Roswell Rudd was born to play the trombone. Since Day One he's covered all the bases - from raucous New Orleans tailgate to smooth, dreamy lyricism; from free counterpoint with Albert Ayler, Don Cherry and others to his angular explorations of Monk with Steve Lacy. The whole history is there, every bit of it. And then he throws you a curveball - lately he's been working with the Mongolian Buryat band. At 70, what's next?

 Kahil El'Zabar

With his roots firmly planted in Chicago's Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, Kahil El'Zabar has crossed many a boundary in his life: from drum set to voice to all kinds of percussion; from bop and post-bop to the freewheeling sonics of his Ritual Trio and his Ethnic Heritage Ensemble; and most recently, to an expansive merger of jazz vocabulary with the rhythms of today's dance floor. Stay tuned for more...
